Ryder Cup Pays Tribute To Arnold Palmer
Ryan Mayer
This week was a sad one in the golf world as the legendary Arnold Palmer passed away on Sunday at the age of 87. As the sport turned its attention to one of its marquee events, the Ryder Cup, this morning, it was the perfect time to honor the legend.
The event did just that by placing the bag that Palmer played with in the 1975 Ryder Cup at the first tee for all the players to see as they began their matches.
Not to be outdone, the crowd did their part to honor and remember Palmer as well, chanting his name prior to the first match of the day.
Palmer was a captain for the Ryder Cup twice and played in the event six times, winning 22 matches in those appearances, which is the most of any American player. The Ryder Cup will be played over the course of the next three days at Hazeltine National Golf Club, wrapping up on Sunday afternoon.
