Rosa Mexicano Shuts Down In Downtown Minneapolis, Report Says

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Another downtown Minneapolis restaurant is calling it quits.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal reported that Rosa Mexicano is closed as of Tuesday, and that it was no longer listed on the chain's website navigation. (The page for the Minneapolis location itself, however, is still active.)

The restaurant has been at the corner of Hennepin Avenue and Sixth Street South since 2011, occupying a space that used to house a TGI Fridays.

Another restaurant adjacent to City Center -- Il Foro -- also recently closed.

The spate of recent closures in Minneapolis also includes Parella, La Belle Vie, and Brasserie Zentral. Some observers have asked whether the city is oversaturated.

"I think we have too many restaurants. There are so many restaurants that keep opening up, every year there's a record number of restaurants that are opening in the Twin Cities. There are not that many more diners," Jason DeRusha said in May.
