Roots For The Home Team's Wild Gitigan Salad
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Fresh fruits and vegetables are key to a healthy diet.
In fact, a recent poll by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota said that more than half of Minnesotans say not being able to get easy access to fresh produce is what keeps them from making healthy choices.
Youth with Roots for the Home Team, an organization funded by the Center for Prevention at Blue Cross, are working to curb this trend by bringing healthy meals to the ballpark.
Roots for the Home Team works with youth garden programs in diverse areas across the Twin Cities.
Kids and teens grow their own produce to be used in salads for which they create the recipes themselves.
These salads are then sold at select Minnesota Twins games.
On Tuesday, Roots for the Home Team joined Mid-Morning and made the Wild Gitigan Salad. Click here for the recipe.
