Rochester Elementary Students Evacuated Over Concerns Of Roof Structural Integrity
ROCHESTER, Minn. (WCCO) -- Gage Elementary School in Rochester released students early Wednesday after officials say parts of its roof are in danger of collapsing.
According Rochester Post Bulletin, engineers were reportedly concerned about the weight that was bearing on one portion of the school's roof.
The school says the students were released around noon as as a precautionary measure while a structural engineer assesses the situation.
In an email sent to parents, Superintendent Michael Muñoz said the "safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance," and also asked for patience.
