Robots Battle At Mall of America

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (AP) — It's machine vs. machine when the Midwest Robotics League returns to the Mall of America for its 2014 regional competition this weekend.

The completion features 15-pound robots battling each other in an arena in three-minute matches.

Students from middle schools, high schools and colleges from across the Midwest build and drive the robots.

Audience members will have a chance to interact with the robots when they're not competing.

The Midwest Robotics League allows students to design and build a robot, then compete against other schools monthly.

The competition runs Saturday and Sunday in the Mall of America's Sears Court.
