Residents Evacuated In 4-Alarm Burnsville Apartment Fire

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Burnsville firefighters helped several residents get out of a burning apartment building overnight.

Crews responded to the Pines of Burnsville Apartments off Burnsville Parkway at about 1 a.m.

The hallways were very smoky, so firefighters escorted residents outside.

No one was injured in the incident, though two apartments have heavy fire damage and several have smoke damage.

Firefighters from other cities were called in to help fight this fire; ultimately, it became a four-alarm blaze.

It's not known yet what started the fire.

Crews said that at least 18 units will need to remain evacuated as a result of the fire.

"Unfortunately, the amount of damage done to the building will keep a few people and families out of their homes for some time," Burnsville Fire Chief B.J. Jungmann said.

The Red Cross is assisting those who were displaced from their apartments.
