Report: 50-Story Tower To Replace TCF Bank Building In Downtown Mpls.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- There are big plans for the redevelopment of the TCF Bank Building in downtown Minneapolis.

According to the Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal, Franklin Street Properties Corp. has just announced when it plans to begin construction of the 50-story tower at 801 Marquette Ave.

If all goes to plan, construction of the new tower could start in the second half of 2016.

The mixed-use building would have a hotel, offices and apartments.

Renderings have yet to be released, so it's unclear how the proposed tower will affect sightlines of Minneapolis' iconic Foshay Tower, which is connected to the current TCF Bank Building. It's also unknown exactly how tall the structure will be and how it'll rank amongst it's nearby skyscrapers.

TCF moved out of the current four-story building earlier this year.
