Red Hot Curry, Warriors Visit Timberwolves Thursday Night

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Steph Curry is coming to Minnesota.

No, it's not a do-over of the 2009 draft when the Timberwolves passed on him for Jonny Flynn. Curry's Golden State Warriors come to Target Center tonight for one of the most exciting November games we've had in a while.

And the Wolves will have their hands full.

"You like to see growth, and you're starting to see it," Kevin Garnett said of his young team. "And more importantly we want to see what you do in practice carry over into games. So we've just got to be consistent."

As much promise as the Wolves have shown thus far, there's nothing like the test they'll get tonight, facing the defending champs, who also happen to be the best and hottest team in the whole league.

"It's always great to play a team like this," Andrew Wiggins said. "They've won what, 10 in a row? Nine in a row? So it should be a great game."

The Warriors are undefeated at 9-0, and winning by an average of 18 points.

"But we're not afraid," Ricky Rubio said. "I mean we went to Atlanta and we beat them when they'd won seven in a row."

The guy leading the way for the Warriors is having a start to a season never seen before. Steph Curry's 41 three-pointers are the NBA's most ever through eight games. No surprise he's scoring a league-leading 31.9 points per game.

"Seems like he was hot for a long time and it seems like he's never gonna get cold," Rubio said.

Pick your superlative. What Curry is doing to start this season is really something.

"Remarkable," Garnett said. "I was telling (Tayshaun Prince) today, he's like his own kind of --- Michael Jordan was a-whole-nother thing, this guy's his own thing. And it's beautiful for basketball. It's beautiful for the sport, and he's somebody we got to deal with tonight."

So how do you stop a guy like that? Or at least slow him down?

"Schemes and strategy," Garnett said. "And we have one. And hopefully we can come out and disrupt him and slow him down a little bit."
