13 Sets Of Twins Born In July At Twin Cities Hospital

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It was a record-breaking -- and adorable -- milestone Tuesday at Methodist Hospital's Birth Center in St. Louis Park.

Patients delivered four times the regular amount of twins, with a total of thirteen sets.

The hospital threw a party for the milestone. Dr. Megan Schmitt delivered a handful of the record-breaking babies.

"When you have twins, and then thirteen sets of twins, that just heightens the excitement everywhere," Schmitt said.

New mom Antanne Friedman gave birth to identical twins -- Jelani and Jordan -- on July 30.

"I don't remember the contractions being that bad, so [laughs], that was the ... part that I wasn't ready for," Friedman said. "But the rest I was ready for it."

And although Friedman admits double duty can be a little more challenging sometimes, she says she has received plenty of advice on raising twins.

"Just to keep them on the same schedule, it's easier," Friedman said. "They're not so much on the same schedule, but for the most part they are. It's not too bad."

It was a memorable chance for moms, twins, nurses and doctors to both reunite and celebrate.

"It's exciting whenever a baby enters the world, and certainly that's the best part of my job -- being able to be with families during that special time in their life," Schmitt said.
