Rare Hummingbird Found In St. Paul Now Back Home

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A hummingbird found far away from home in a St. Paul yard is now back home.

WCCO first reported on the rare hummingbird two weeks ago. Roufus hummingbirds are from the Pacific Northwest and winter in Mexico.

Experts think the bird got lost in our first snow storm.

The hummingbird was taken to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center where it was then transferred to a facility in Texas. It was checked out and released back into the wild on Sunday.

WCCO learned that an anonymous partner stepped forward and brought the hummingbird to Texas on a private jet.
