Ramsey Co. Deputy To Pay Fine For Abusing K-9 Partner

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Ramsey County deputy, caught on camera abusing his K-9, will pay for his crime.
Surveillance video showed Deputy Brett Berry beating his dog, Boone, at a casino resort in Carlton last summer. Berry pleaded guilty to animal cruelty last month.
He apologized, saying he was blackout drunk. Boone wasn't seriously hurt. Berry no longer works with K-9's.
The deputy will pay $1,200 in fines and restitution. He'll avoid jail time if he stays out of trouble and gets alcohol treatment.
