Rain, Snow Moving Toward Southern Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Old Man Winter isn't done with southern Minnesota this week.
WCCO-TV meteorologist Matt Brickman says that a band of moisture is approaching from the west, and it'll make its away across the southern part of the state Tuesday night.
In the early evening, clouds will move-in, hitting communities along Interstate 90 and up through New Ulm with rain. Cities in west-central and northwest Minnesota will also see a few raindrops.
Around midnight, the moisture south of the Twin Cities, from New Ulm to western Wisconsin, will turn to snow.
While the metro may see a layer of slush overnight, western Wisconsin may see a few inches of wet, heavy snow accumulate.
For southern Minnesota, the snow will land on the stuff that fell earlier in the week.
On Sunday, about 9 inches of snow fell across Dakota, Carver and Scott counties. Some communities, such as Zumbrota, saw more than a foot of snow.
Looking ahead, the rest of the workweek is expected to be cool, but it'll be followed by a weekend warm-up.
