QUITPLAN Prepares For The Great American Smokeout

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Fewer people are lighting up.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports cigarette smoking rates have hit an all-time low.

Researchers said the number of smokers dropped about 15 percent, from 45-million to nearly 37-million, between 2005 and 2015.

But, there are still plenty of people who want to quit smoking and need help.

QUITPLAN Services helps smokers quit by offering telephone counseling and free nicotine patches.

On Thursday, they are celebrating the Great American Smokeout event.

Every year, on the third Thursday of November , tobacco users across the nation are encouraged to take part in this event to raise awareness about the downsides of using tobacco and making a plan to quit.

For help quitting, call QUITPLAN's helpline at 1-888-354-PLAN (7526) or visit QUITPLAN online.
