Program Aims To Address Domestic Violence In ND Oil Patch
BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A North Dakota organization that provides help to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault is partnering with a drug and alcohol treatment program to work with people in the oil patch.
CAWS North Dakota is a nonprofit membership organization representing domestic violence and sexual assault crisis intervention centers throughout the state. The group is contracting with Heartview Foundation of Bismarck to provide mental health and substance abuse services to six centers in western North Dakota.
The program will also provide training to staff.
Heartview Foundation spokesman Kurt Snyder says the agreement is a "pioneering opportunity" to bring needed services to the Bakken oil producing region.
The program is being funded through a U.S. Department of Justice initiative.
