Pro-Palestinian activists protest outside Plymouth's Northrop Grumman

PLYMOUTH, Minn. — Activists blocked the driveway of a Twin Cities company early Thursday in protest of its ties to the war in Israel.

The protest was outside Northrop Grumman, a Virginia-based multinational aerospace and defense technology company.

Critics say Northrop Grumman supplies weapons and missile systems to Israel.

There was a heavy law enforcement presence at the scene. A representative from the group told WCCO protesters initially blocked the driveway for hours before police ordered them to move.

Two protesters stayed in the driveway, locked to a blockade comprised of barrels, but they were eventually removed by police. A total of six protesters were arrested, according to the group.

The protest was held hours before the Minneapolis City Council overrode Mayor Jacob Frey's recent veto of its resolution calling for a cease-fire in Gaza. The council is also calling for the U.S. military to stop funding Israel, for Hamas to release its Israeli hostages and for the release of Palestinians being held in Israeli military prison.
