Power Expected To Be Restored In Duluth After Storms
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — The power should be back on soon for the remaining Duluth residents left without electricity when storms toppled trees and power lines last week.
Minnesota Power expected to have electricity fully restored by the end of Wednesday.
Crews were focusing on restoring individual service wires, which connect from the pole to the customer's house. The work was concentrated on the Woodland and Morley Heights neighborhoods of Duluth as well as the south side of the city of Rice Lake.
About 46,000 customers were without power at the height of the storm. At least 300 power poles needed replacing.
Restoring power involved 400 people, including 260 line workers and 30 professional tree removal crews.
Homeowners with a broken service mast must hire an electrician to make repairs before power is restored.
