Poll: U.S. Economy Rigged Toward Certain Groups
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The overwhelming majority of Americans believe the economy is rigged.
Seventy-one percent think the U.S. economic system is "rigged in favor of certain groups," according to a new poll by Marketplace-Edison Research.
According to CNN, the poll asked which of three options came closest to participants' feelings about the U.S. economic system. They could say it's rigged in favor of certain groups, that it's fair to all Americans, or that they didn't know either way.
CNN reported that every group believed the economy to be rigged, crossing all racial and political lines.
The polls other findings included that 62 percent of Americans say good jobs are hard to find near where they live, and nearly one-quarter haven't gone away on a vacation in more than five years.
The poll was conducted to get a temperature read on the election cycle, one which 70 percent of poll participants believed could be described as "embarrassing," according to Marketplace-Edison Research. Only 14 percent of respondents said they were "very satisfied" with the likely presidential candidates.
