Police: Woman Killed After Jumping From Pick-Up Truck Near Rogers

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- An adult woman died Sunday after jumping out of a vehicle near Rogers, according to police.

Authorities responded to a crash at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday on Brockton Avenue just south of 147 Street. When officers arrived, the initial information was that a 49-year-old female passenger in a pick-up truck had jumped out of the moving vehicle.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses at the scene said the truck was traveling about 50 miles per hour at the time of the incident. Witnesses traveling the other direction stopped and tried to help the woman, but efforts were unsuccessful.

Authorities say the woman may have been hit by the vehicle or injured from hitting the pavement. The driver of the pick-up truck is cooperating with police, and there is no suspicion of alcohol use by the driver.

Police say the driver and passenger had left Minnetonka and were headed to an area near Rogers. Why the woman jumped from the truck is under investigation.

The woman has not been identified.
