Police Suspect St. Cloud Teens In LeSauk Township Burglaries
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Stearns County Sheriff's Department is investigating a series of burglaries that occurred on the a street in LeSauk Township early Monday morning.
Authorities say they received a report of a suspected burglary on Riveria Road at around 3 a.m. Monday. The homeowner told responding deputies that a family member heard the garage open in the middle of the night. When the family went to investigate, they found the garage door partially open and the remote opener missing from one of their cars in the driveway.
Deputies say they later found an 18-year-old St. Cloud girl in a vehicle parked on the roadway nearby. Officers searched the vehicle after they say they smelled marijuana and found drug paraphernalia, along with several items in and around the vehicle that they believe didn't belong to the girl.
After speaking to homeowners in the area, investigators determined some of those items were the taken from unlocked garages and vehicles nearby. Deputies say they towed the vehicle and seized the items.
Investigators say they're still looking for a potential male accomplice in the case, who they believe was rummaging through the garages while the girl waited in the car.
