Police: Suspect At Large After Shooting Man In Northfield Robbery
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Northfield Police are searching for a suspect who shot a man during an armed robbery early Tuesday morning.
Police responded to reports of shots fired at about 12:15 a.m. in the area of Highway 3 and 3rd Street West.
When they arrived, they found a man lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim told police the suspect approached him and demanded his personal items before shooting him.
Police believe the suspect fled the scene in a light-colored minivan that's possibly a late-90s, early-2000s model with Minnesota plates.
The victim was treated at Northfield Hospital before being flown by helicopter to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, where he is in serious condition.
The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic man between 20- and 30-years-old with a medium to heavy build. He is between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, and has short hair or a shaved head. He was wearing jeans and a white shirt or shorts and a button-up shirt.
The suspect's van was last seen fleeing northwest from the scene. He is considered armed and dangerous.
