Police Seeking More Details In New Richmond (Wis.) Double Homicide
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The New Richmond Police Department says it's continuing to investigate the deaths of a mother and her 10-year-old daughter on Sept. 3 as homicides.
A person of interest, identified by authorities as Cristian Daniel Nunez, is in custody in El Paso, Texas.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the deaths of Courtney L. Bradford and Jasmine L. Bradford as a homicide. Nunez is being held by the El Paso Police Department on felony warrants for operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent and credit card fraud. He has not yet been charged in connection with the two deaths.
Police say they were called to their home after someone reported smelling smoke. Police say Bradford's ex-husband was dropping her son off at the home around 12 p.m. on Sept. 2 when he noticed broken windows, smoke and water running downstairs.
Fire crews discovered the two bodies inside the home.
The New Richmond Police Department is asking for the public's help in the investigation. Anyone who might have had contact with Nunez, Courtney Bradford or Jasmine Bradford between Aug. 28 and Sept. 2 is asked to call St. Croix County Dispatch at (715) 246-6131.
