Police: Pedestrian Dies After Being Trapped Under Commercial Vehicle

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A crash is being investigated after a pedestrian was struck and killed in Bloomington Monday morning.

According to police, officers responded at 6:53 a.m. to a reported injury accident at the intersection of 86th Street and Nicollet Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found a male victim trapped under one of the involved vehicles. The victim, a pedestrian, died from his injuries.

According to preliminary investigation, a commercial vehicle with an attached trailer was traveling southbound on Nicollet Avenue when it swerved to avoid a passenger vehicle attempting to turn westbound on 86th Street from northbound Nicollet.

The commercial vehicle then left the roadway and struck the pedestrian along with a utility pole on the southwest corner of the intersection.

The victim has not been identified.
