Police Investigating After Night Of Violence In The Twin Cities
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- It's been a violent 24 hours in the Twin Cities.
Police in Minneapolis are investigating a deadly shooting that happened in the area 30th Avenue North and Emerson Avenue just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Officials believe two men got into some sort of fight before one of them pulled out a gun and fired.
The shooter then took off. Police haven't had made any arrests.
This is at least the 37th homicide in Minneapolis this year, putting the city on pace to log its largest number of homicides since 2007.
St. Paul police are also working on a homicide case.
Officers found a man, later identified as 37-year-old Synika George James of St. Paul, had been shot at the intersection of Cypress Street and Reaney Avenue Wednesday night.
He died while being taken to the hospital.
The Pioneer Press reported that a vigil was being held there, marking three years since 20-year-old Naressa Turner was shot to death inside her SUV in 2012.
That shooting was believed to be gang-related.
Meanwhile, police in Eagan are investigating a shooting in a hotel parking lot.
Police say a 23-year-old was shot in the leg near the Days Inn on Erin Lane just before 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The man is expected to be OK.
