Police: DNA From Trash & Abandoned Jacket Leads To Bank Robbery Arrests
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two men have been arrested and now face charges in connection to a Coon Rapids armed bank robbery, according to police.
In Anoka County District Court Friday morning, 25-year-old Daniel Alley and 24-year-old Maksim Demikh were charged with first-degree robbery.
On the early evening of Nov. 14, 2014, Alley and Demikh are accused of entering and robbing a Guaranty Bank, located on 3340 124th Ave. NW. They allegedly threatened bank tellers with a gun and then left with a undisclosed amount of cash.
According to the criminal complaint, Demikh was arrested Tuesday after DNA from an abandoned jacket – located by a robbery witness – was matched to several pieces of garbage he discarded. When he was arrested, he admitted that he and Alley had robbed the bank. About $2,000 was found during the execution of a search warrant, which was the remaining proceeds from his share of the robbery money.
Alley was arrested at Sherburne County Jail, where he was housed on a separate unrelated charge.
