Police: 2 Teens Hospitalized After Crash In Eagan

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities say two teenagers were hurt, one seriously, after a crash in Eagan early Monday afternoon.

The Eagan Police and Fire Departments responded to a two-vehicle crash at about 2:42 p.m. at the intersection of Lexington Avenue and Wescott Road. When authorities got to the scene, an investigation determined that a 16-year-old male, with a 15-year-old passenger, was turning westbound onto Wescott Road from northbound Lexington Avenue and failed to yield the fight of way when he was hit by a pick-up truck heading south on Lexington Avenue.

The 15-year-old passenger was extricated from the vehicle. Authorities say both teenagers were taken to Regions hospital and their conditions were not known.

Authorities say the 57-year-old driver of the pick-up was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The Eagan Police Department said the occupants of both vehicles were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash and airbags were deployed. It is not known if impaired or distracted driving played a role in the crash.

The Minnesota State Patrol is providing assistance in investigating what led up to the crash.
