Police: 2 Charged With Package Theft; 1 At Large

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A high-quality home surveillance system led to the indictment of two North St. Paul residents, accused of stealing packages from a Roseville home in broad daylight.

The Roseville City Attorney's Office says 34-year-old Jennifer Hampton and 39-year-old Chad Bambach were charged Wednesday with one count each of gross misdemeanor theft.

The pair is accused of stealing $900 worth of packages on Oct. 23 from a home on the 1800 block of Dale Court North.

Surveillance video of the crime was broadcasted on local news, leading to one of Hampton's relatives to recognize her and report her to police.

Hampton eventually confessed and named Bambach as her accomplice, who drove her to and from the crime scene.

Bambach was questioned by police at the Goodhue County Jail, where he was an inmate on unrelated charges. He confirmed to investigators that the woman in the video was Hampton, but said he did not know she was committing theft. He also said Hampton sold ice skates from one of the packages to a second-hand store.

Hampton is not in custody, and police are asking for the public's help to find here. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to call 651-792-7211 or 911.

They could each face up to one year in prison if convicted.
