Peterson Dons Santa Costume, Gives Out Gifts To Over 400 Kids

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The big man in purple became the big man in red!

Adrian Peterson and his wife Ashley dressed up as Santa and Mrs. Claus Tuesday afternoon.

They handed out holiday gift bags to over 400 kids living in transitional housing at Mary's Place, just north of downtown Minneapolis.

Peterson said he's done something similar in his home state of Texas for the past three or four years. And Peterson didn't skimp for Minnesota, the outfit is complete with white eyebrows and spectacles.

Peterson said all he wants from Santa is a Super Bowl, but this day was all about bringing smiles to the faces of these kids.

"This is a vision that we came up with two-and-a-half weeks ago, me and my wife and my pastor," Adrian Peterson said. "We searched and we found Mary's Place and they allowed us to come in and bless the children. We have 420 some children that we're going to be able to show our love and our heart and bless them with toys," Peterson said.

Peterson and the Vikings play the New York Giants Sunday at TCF Bank Stadium.
