Fridley Police Investigating Fatal Crash Involving Pedestrian

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police in Fridley are investigating after a fatal crash involving a pedestrian closed down several lanes of traffic Monday.

According to Fridley police, just after 5:45 a.m. officers were called to the intersection of University Avenue NE and 57th Avenue NE on a call of a pedestrian being struck by a car.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a 41-year-old Tou Feng Lee, of Brooklyn Park, was traveling northbound on Highway 47 and had a green light at the intersection of 57th Avenue NE. Lee then struck a male pedestrian, later identified as 50-year-old Francisco Javier Ojeda of St. Paul, that was crossing the intersection.

Ojeda died on the scene. Lee was not injured.

Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
