Paul Ryan Re-Elected As House Speaker

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Congress is back in session for the first time since the election.

Republicans won the White House and both the House and Senate.

On Tuesday, the GOP re-elected Paul Ryan to continue on as House Speaker but House Democrats delayed their decision on leadership.

Unlike before the election, Republicans showed optimism about the direction of their party.

They emerged from a private meeting wearing "Make America Great Again" hats.

Not much optimism for Democrats.

They delayed a vote on whether to re-elect Rep. Nancy Pelosi as minority leader.

That party will hold leadership elections on Nov. 30.

Senate Republicans and Democrats plan to meet separately Wednesday to pick their leadership teams.
