Ryan Makes Final Campaign Push Before Congressional Primary

RACINE, Wis. (AP) — House Speaker Paul Ryan is making a final push across his southeast Wisconsin congressional district in advance of a primary where he faces a challenge from a Republican who had been praised by Donald Trump.

Ryan's upstart opponent Paul Nehlen is riding a burst of publicity thanks to compliments from Trump last week. But days later, Trump endorsed Ryan during a Green Bay rally.

Ryan plans to campaign Monday at businesses in Racine and Pleasant Prairie.

Nehlen posted a video Monday making a pitch to voters, saying Ryan has failed to secure the border and enforce immigration laws.

Ryan has largely tried to ignore the upstart primary challenge from Nehlen, who has courted support from national conservative commentators including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
