Patterson Named NFL Offensive Rookie Of Month For December

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Fresh off an impressive finish to his rookie season, Vikings wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson earned an NFL honor on Thursday.

Patterson was named the league's Offensive Rookie of the Month for December after scoring six touchdowns in the month, third-most in the NFL. He led all NFL wide receivers with three rushing touchdowns on 10 carries for 156 yards over the final month of the season.

He also had 16 catches, 219 yards and three receiving touchdowns over the last month and averaged more than 27 yards per kick return. He's the first Vikings player to earn that award since Percy Harvin in 2009.

Patterson set an NFL record with a 109-yard kick return for a touchdown against the Green Bay Packers. He also became the first NFL player to record four receiving touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns and two kick return touchdowns in a single season. He also is the first NFL player with a 100-yard kick return, 75-yard receiving touchdown and a 50-yard rushing score in the same season.

The Vikings traded four draft picks to move back into the first round of the NFL Draft and take Patterson with the No. 29 selection.
