Owatonna Man Facing Charges For Meth Possession

OWATONNA, Minn. (AP) — An Owatonna man faces more drug charges.

The Owatonna People's Press reported Friday that police filed first-degree drug charges against 50-year-old Robert James Schirmer on Thursday.

According to a complaint, police found methamphetamine in his car during a traffic stop on Tuesday. A woman in the vehicle with Schirmer was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Schirmer made his first court appearance Thursday. A judge set his bail at $500,000.

He was charged with first-degree controlled substance sale in February 2015 and with first-degree sale and possession and receiving a stolen gun in September. He was charged with felony theft and identity theft in December. Those cases all remain pending.
