MN Woman Busted At Airport With 38 Lbs. Of Drugs

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A woman from southwestern Minnesota was arrested at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport with 38 pounds of drugs.

According to authorities, 49-year-old Khoua Vang, of Walnut Grove, was taken into custody on Sunday. She was arrested after police found her with about three-quarters of a pound of methamphetamine and 37 and a half pounds of opium.

The drugs have an estimated street value of more than $500,000.

The Cook County Sheriff's Department said that she was stopping over on her way back to Minnesota. The flight originated in Laos.

Reports say that Vang was ordered to surrender her passport, and was held in lieu of a $100,000 bail.

She is charged with methamphetamine delivery, methamphetamine trafficking, possession of methamphetamine, controlled substance trafficking, and two counts of manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance.
