Officials: 1 Hospitalized After St. Louis Park House Fire

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A woman was brought to a hospital Monday night after escaping a house fire in the west metro.

She was the only occupant of a single-story home on the 2900 block Texa Tonka Avenue in St. Louis Park, fire officials said. She was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene before being brought to a local hospital.

Neighbors in the area said they heard explosions coming from the woman's house.

"We heard a loud boom, and our house shook," said Angela Porter, who lives two doors down.

She said that the flames reached the tops of nearby trees.

"The house was completely on fire," she said.

Fire crews from seven different departments responded to the fire, and it didn't take long for them to get it under control.

The cause of the fire, however, remains unknown.

"CenterPoint Energy has been on scene," said St. Louis Park Fire Chief Steve Koering. "They've looked for any type of gas issues, and there are none in the neighborhood or in the house where the fire started."

The fire remains under investigation.
