Man Killed In Officer-Involved Shooting In Lakeville
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Investigators are working in a Lakeville neighborhood after officers shot and killed a man. The shooting happened at about 11:40 a.m. at a home on the 20000 block of Italy Avenue Friday.
Agents with the Bureau of Criminal Aprehension have arrived on the scene to take over the processing of this officer involved shooting.
Lakeville Police and Dakota County deputies arrived at the suspect's mothers home to serve a warrant. A neighbor says she noticed a police presence around the house, two doors away.
"Things like this happen, but so close to me and for me to be home," neighbor Cindy Erickson said. "I feel sad I feel sad for the family now it's just a very hard thing."
A man was heard yelling at the officers to leave, then shortly afterwards the sound of gunfire.
No officers were injured in the exchange.
Neighbors say the address has a history of police showing up over the past years.
"There were no officers hurt, that's awesome, but that's someone's family and I hope everyone is sensitive and caring. Keep them in your thoughts and prayers," Jeff Agan Jr. said.
Authorities are still not releasing much information but will confirm that the suspect was shot in an exchange of gunfire with the officers.
It's not been revealed yet what precipitated the gunfire or if the suspect initiated.
WCCO checked up into the man's criminal history record, and it shows only traffic, disorderly conduct, and driving under the influence offenses.
