There were carnival rides for the kids, education services and more than a thousand volunteers on hand.

The event was free and open to everyone.

Members of Minnesota's congressional delegation thanked the Convoy of Hope for coming to the Twin Cities.

Senator Al Franken said the event helps communities "tackle the challenges faced in our society head on and to help people become better equipped with the tools necessary to succeed."

District Congressman Erik Paulsen said, "I really admire citizens who take the time to ensure that their friends, neighbors and community are taken care of."

The Convoy of Hope started in 1994. It is based out of Springfield, Mo. and has a driving passion to feed the world.
