NEXT Weather: Air quality alert for northern half of Minnesota

NEXT Weather: 10 p.m. report from Aug. 7, 2023

MINNEAPOLIS -- Some Minnesotans will enjoy a typical summer day Tuesday, while others will deal yet again with hazardous air from wildfire smoke. 

Tuesday's high will be 86 in the Twin Cities, which is a few degrees above average. It will also be less humid.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issued an orange-level air quality alert for northern and central Minnesota this week due to more Canadian wildfire smoke. The alert will be in effect from Tuesday at 6 a.m. through Wednesday at noon.

Mugginess will return mid-week. There is a chance of scattered storms Wednesday, but don't expect much rain accumulation. It will be a couple of degrees cooler, too.  

The next best chance of rain comes Thursday night. There could be some storms, but a severe outbreak is not expected. 

The rain will linger into the overnight hours heading toward Friday morning.

Saturday looks great, and we could see more rain Sunday.
