NEXT Weather: MPCA extends air quality alert until noon Sunday
MINNEAPOLIS -- Canadian wildfire smoke will move out of the area going into Sunday, though it was pervasive enough that the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency extended its air quality alert, which was originally scheduled to expire at 3 p.m. Saturday.
That has now been extended until noon Sunday, due to lingering smoke. But Sunday will overall see a drastic improvement, and will be the better day to get outside.
It'll get steadily cooler on Sunday and Monday, as temperatures hang in the upper 70s and low 80s. WCCO meteorologist Lisa Meadows says a few isolated storms can't be ruled out in the latter part of Sunday, mainly east, but most will remain dry.
Highs climb from around 80 through Monday up to the mid and upper 80s by Tuesday with isolated showers and thunderstorms. Temps should stay in the same territory through the rest of the week thereafter.
