NEXT Weather: Rain, isolated thunder Thursday evening
MINNEAPOLIS -- A line of thunderstorms is moving over the Twin Cites.
Meteorologist Chris Shaffer says the storms will arrive with a burst of strong winds followed by a deluge of heavy rain. Unlike Wednesday, however, the storms are expected to move quickly, reducing the chance of flash flooding.
While these storms are producing thunder and lightning, most of them are not considered severe, although isolated severe storms could pop up through the evening hours.

According to Shaffer, the storm line will swirl over the Twin Cites through Thursday night. After, the back end of the storm system will swing over northern Minnesota on Friday morning before hitting the metro area again.
The showers and storms Friday are expected to be weaker than Thursday's, and temperatures will also be cooler. Residents in the Twin Cities will notice a drop in temperatures as the initial line of storms moves through Thursday evening.
A stretch of dry weather looks to start Sunday, when humidity levels are expected to drop. Temperatures will hover in the low 80s next week.
