NEXT Weather: Monday's milder temps to melt Sunday's snowfall

NEXT Weather: 10 p.m. report from April 16, 2023

MINNEAPOLIS -- Many Minnesotans woke up to snow on the ground Sunday morning, but don't get too used to that sight.

The Twin Cities saw less than an inch of snow from Sunday's storm, but areas of central Minnesota saw as many as 3.5 inches of snow on the ground. Eastern Minnesota saw up to 5 inches of slushy snow, and heavier snow is expected to fall in western Wisconsin through Monday afternoon.

A wind advisory is in effect through midnight Monday due to gusts as strong as 45 mph, though the heavy nature of this snow will minimize visibility issues.

Monday will be more mild, with highs close to 50, and Tuesday should be closer to average and sunny.

Rain will return midweek, and we'll see cooler temperatures to wrap up the week.
