NEXT Weather: Much of Minnesota under another air quality alert across midweek
MINNEAPOLIS -- Steel yourself for a sweltering week in the Twin Cities, as well as another with potentially dangerous levels of ozone.
Monday kicked off a stretch of hot, muggy weather, and the Twin Cities are likely to hit 90 every day this week, which would be more than enough to make it a veritable heat wave. The sunshine will stick around through midweek before some clouds arrive.
"It will still be humid, but with a dew point around 60 we should avoid any heat advisories," WCCO meteorologist Chris Shaffer said.
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency on Monday issued an air quality alert for central and southern Minnesota, effective from noon on Tuesday, June 20, through 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 22. The cause for the alert is ground-level ozone.

The average high temperature for this time of year is 80 degrees. Overnight lows are, on average, 62 degrees at this time of year, but this week's overnight lows look to hover in the low 70s.
Our next chance of rain arrives over the weekend, and temperatures should cool slightly by Sunday. Shaffer says to expect the state's drought conditions to worsen this week.
