NEXT Weather: Scattered thunderstorms Friday evening before hotter, drier weekend
MINNEAPOLIS -- Friday will continue the recent pattern of hot, humid, and unsettled weather across Minnesota.
After three 90-degree days in a row -- a bonafide heatwave -- the Twin Cities will have a high of 88 Friday, so a fourth straight day in the 90s isn't out of the question. We've been about 15 degrees above average for this time of year.
Isolated showers and storms are possible in central and southern Minnesota in the afternoon. Some thunderstorms have been developing in Goodhue and Dakota counties.
A cluster of thunderstorms holding strong on the border of Goodhue county. We've had some development up in Dakota county too. Heavy rain and also lightning. You'll want to be indoors for these until they fall apart. @wcco #mnwx #wawx pic.twitter.com/aTcSVSgLdd

Scattered thunderstorms will continue into the evening and will go away after sunset.
The hot streak will continue through the weekend and into early next week, but a very slight cooldown should arrive midweek, along with a drop in humidity.
There's still slight chances for storms over the weekend, with areas east and southeast of the Twin Cities favored.
Next week, it's expected to be cooler, but still 5 to 10 degrees above average for early June. More scattered storms are possible, too.
DRY MAY HELPS DROUGHT
Minnesota's snowy-heavy winter helped the drought situation in Minnesota, but conditions in May -- mostly dry -- allowed for drought conditions to build back in.
All of the snow we had this winter really helped out our drought. But...a dry May has allowed for conditions to build back in. Last summer wasn't great and the summer before that the same.
