NEXT Weather: Wet end to week; snow stays north of metro

NEXT Weather: 10 p.m. forecast from Dec. 15, 2023

MINNEAPOLIS — With a storm system dropping south, the clouds are staying put and rain will pick up across the Twin Cities as we head into Friday evening.

Some snow will mix in north of the metro, especially overnight, but it's uncertain how much of it will accumulate.

Any travel north could be dicey Friday night into Saturday morning as those puddles may turn to ice overnight.

Rain amounts are trending up, now between 0.50" and 0.75", the most from a storm since the end of October.

All precipitation looks to wrap up by Saturday afternoon.

That system knocks us back closer to 40 for our highs this weekend with the sunshine slow to return until Sunday.

Winds pick up a bit Sunday as well, with gusts up to 30 mph.

The dry, unseasonably mild pattern looks to persist for most of next week with White Christmas chances looking very bleak.

The coldest day will be Monday with highs trending colder in the upper 20s.
