NEXT Weather: Cold going into the weekend but a warm up is just around the corner
MINNEAPOLIS — Friday night will be another brutally cold one, but a big warm-up is just around the corner.
High pressure in the Great Plains is slowly starting to nudge eastward, helping to clear the clouds late Friday night.
High temps stay in the single digits above zero with overnight lows near or below zero.
Wind chill advisories are in effect Friday night for southeastern and southwestern Minnesota for feels-like temps as low as minus-30.

Expect lots of sunshine Saturday, but highs will only be in the lower 10s.
By Sunday, that area of high pressure moves to our east, allowing for warming winds.
Temps will be a lot more seasonable with highs near 20. However, gusts will be a speeds of up to 35 mph, so wind chills won't get above the single digits.
There is a growing potential for another system bringing snow, or possibly rain, across southern Minnesota into Tuesday.
The mild pattern looks to hold for the rest of January with highs in the 30s all next week.
