Newport Woman Pleads Guilty In Husband's Overdose Death

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Newport woman pleaded guilty Friday to third-degree murder in the methadone-overdose death of her husband in 2013, according to the Ramsey County Attorney's office.

Forty-four-year-old Jennifer Marie Johnson is accused of injecting her husband -- 32-year-old Dennis Parmuat -- with a fatal dose of her methadone in the early morning of March 30, 2013.

The complaint says Johnson called Newport police, and emergency crews took Parmuat to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he was pronounced dead soon after.

She told police that Parmuat drank some beers before she gave him 30-40 milligrams of the opiate.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's office concluded that Parmuat died of mixed drug toxicity.
