Mpls. Police Officer Fired After Misconduct Allegations
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- WCCO has learned a second Minneapolis police officer has been fired over accusations he went too far during an arrest.
Officer Blayne Lehner was on the force for nearly 20 years. He also served as a director on the board of the Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis.
Lehner was let go Friday -- the same day Officer Rod Webber was fired for threatening to break a teenager's leg.
Chief Janeé Harteau says she cannot comment on specific cases, but said in a statement that officers "will be held accountable if their actions are not consistent with our core values."
Federation President Lt. Bob Kroll also released a statement Wednesday night about Lehner's firing.
"Blayne Lehner is an exceptional officer and federation board member," Kroll said. "The federation has filed a grievance in both the Lehner and Rod Webber cases."
