Mpls. Police Investigate Fire Started By 'Emotionally Disturbed' Person
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Police in Minneapolis were investigating Monday after receiving reports of an emotionally disturbed man starting a fire near the city's Uptown neighborhood.
Just after 2 p.m. the Minneapolis Fire Department tweeted that crews received reports of a fire in an apartment building on the 2800 block of Garfield Avenue S.
Reports of fire possibly started by emotionally disturbed person on 1st floor armed with a automatic weapon and a machete. Police on scene.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, reports stated that an emotionally disturbed person had locked himself in his home and had started a fire.
Police said he was also threatening to harm first responders.
Upon arrival, the MFD reported light smoke coming from the C side of the building. No flames were reported.
Crews were able to put out the fire around 2:20 p.m. and are being released.
The police incident has been resolved. The area is now open to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
