Mpls. Couple's Photo Booth Pregnancy Reveal Goes Viral

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minneapolis husband and wife are still getting used to their unexpected fame.

Jessica Devins set out to surprise her husband, Michael, with a creative way to let him know she's expecting.

They posted the video of the big reveal on YouTube Christmas Eve, and within weeks, the video got more than six million views and was all over social media.

When they decided to share a very personal moment, the Devins say they just wanted one thing.

"I just posted it thinking, you know, someone might find inspiration in it someday," Jessica said.

The video found its way into the hearts of millions of people.

Strangers are now reaching out with their support for the parents-to-be.

"There's a lot of hard things going on in the world, and I think that it really helps just bring a bright smile to someone's day," Jessica said.

The Minneapolis couple captures moments for a living working as photographers, so they have a lot of snapshots.

"Photo booths are like our thing," Michael said.

They've snapped shots everywhere from trips to Disney to their engagement. Then about six months ago, Jessica decided to start recording their trips to different photo booths.

"We have so many photos we don't have room on our wall, now we need videos, too!" Michael said.

But Jessica had a plan. She wanted to record life's little moments, so Michael wouldn't see this one coming.

Then inside the photo booth at Pizzeria Lola in Minneapolis -- where hundreds of memories already line the walls -- Jessica and Michael made their greatest one yet.

"My mind is like racing trying to figure out what's going on, so I was caught a little off guard," Michael said. "There's no, 'Oh my gosh, what happens next?' reveal. It's just a genuine moment."

She is 19 weeks into her pregnancy as of Saturday. The video was actually recorded back in September, but the couple wanted to wait a while before sharing it with family -- and then the world.

They will learn the baby's gender Tuesday, but they'll keep their list of names a secret until the baby is born.
