Mpls. City Council Approves Updated $129M Target Center Renovation
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minneapolis City Council has approved an updated Target Center renovation -- now estimated at $129 million -- with an 11-2 vote Friday morning.
In late March, an updated budget unveiled at Minneapolis City Hall showed the cost of the renovation had climbed to more than $30 million from the original projection of $97 million. That's because the costs of construction, labor and materials have gone up.
The Timberwolves will contribute an addition $5 million – a total of $49 million.
Construction is expected to kick into high gear this summer, with the renovations being completed in 2017.
