MINNEAPOLIS – A man and two boys were hurt when their vehicle was fired upon by another vehicle early Monday morning on Interstate 35W in Minneapolis.

Police say it happened just after 2 a.m. on the northbound off-ramp to 28th Avenue East. Officers and troopers with the Minnesota State Patrol discovered the vehicle with the injured occupants: an 18-year-old man, a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy.

Investigators believe another vehicle "pulled up alongside" them and opened fire. A WCCO crew on scene saw the vehicle, which was covered in more than a dozen bullet holes.

The man's injuries are not life threatening, but police say the teens suffered "potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds." All three are being treated at HCMC.

Police are still investigating.
